Today started with not being able to sleep because my insides were angry, so I spent half an hour on the pot playing on my phone until my legs went to sleep. At this point, Allen got up and started getting ready for work, the kids were getting up and the day had officially begun.
We have to leave by 7:40 in order to get Noah to the bus on time and naturally, he was running behind so he grabbed some rice cakes for breakfast....caramel ones....opened on the sheet of my bed! Thank you son, for the nice sticky crumbs. Add washing my sheets to today's already lengthy list. Of course at this point, it wouldn't have been normal if he had actually made it to the bus stop on time. SO, out to the truck to load up so we could take him to school. Before I could leave though, Sam brought me his less-than-12-hour-old watch which is already broken. Great. Add exchanging a watch trip to Wal-Mart to today's list.
Thankfully, we were able to get Noah to school before the teachers went
inside so I (and entourage) didn't have to get out of the vehicle!
Score! After that, I was actually able to pick up a new watch and some printed pictures at Wal-Mart and be home in time to send my girls off with my sister for a little last minute gathering of supplies for the talent show tonight. Fast forward a couple hours and we have not one, but 2 Boston cream pies! Well, cakes...not sure why it's called pie when it's made with cake.
Made 1 of them to share at the talent show and the other one is for Noah to shove his face into! He is doing a pie eating demonstration for his talent. Not sure why he would want to show off how well he can pig out. Add it to the list of things about being a mother I will just never understand.
I assumed Allen was working the football game tonight as part of his job but NO! He surprised me by coming home to go with us to the talent show tonight! I was so grateful to have help going to the activity tonight so I didn't have to be alone dealing with the baby while juggling a squirmy 5 year old, a nerve ridden 8 year old who can't decide what to perform or if she should perform, keep a 10 year old from eating the pie before it starts and helping a 12 year old orchestrate the whole ordeal! I was so thankful I almost started crying. I would have done it with a smile on my face because I had to, but given a choice? I LOVE having backup!
